I asked myself who would need the Retreat and why:

Might you be -

hanging on to faith by a thread? ...................... Possibly...

maybe not hanging on by a thread, but nevertheless perhaps buffeted in some way? ...................... Possibly...

cut off from the Church and the Sacraments - or perhaps feeling that way? ...................... Possibly...

secure enough in faith, but might appreciate a peaceful and contemplative element for a day or two or more? ...................... Possibly...

Or -

Do the normal things of a parish seem to say very little to you? ...................... Possibly...

Do you feel the need to be accepted for where you are in your faith, rather than where you are expected to be? ...................... Possibly...

Might you value the opportunity simply of a roof, a bed, a place to be quiet? ...................... Possibly...

Might you want to know that there is also a chapel, if a chapel may be of use, and a priest, if a priest may be of use? ...................... Possibly...

Or again -

Perhaps you might want just a traditional retreat-style day or two or more. Again, Possibly...

Whatever the need -

A little Retreat Centre (for the want of a better title) has been set up in a quiet location near St Austell. The above considerations were the initial inspiration: but the house is there for whatever the need might be, and with whatever programme (or lack of one) a visitor might want.

The centre is an extended farm cottage with outbuildings and space to wander. It can be there for individuals, for couples, or for a small group. Expenses are met by donations, with the guideline that basic material costs are perhaps £15 or so per night per person, all inclusive.
